ABOUT

A PHYSICAL HUB FOR MULTIDISCIPLINARY ARTS

Starting out as a pop-up exhibition space in 2012, the The Gateway Project Studios and Exhibition Space has recently grown into a multifaceted arena that serves both cultural practitioners and the larger global community through programs, exhibitions, and multi-use space. The three level facility is features rentable artist/creative studios, and a non-profit exhibition space and residency program.

The Gateway Project Studios are rentable workspaces for artists, creatives, and arts-organizations. Ranging in size from 100 - 600 square feet, the studios offer a variety of high-end and nurturing amenities that aren't found elsewhere in the tri-state area.

The Gateway Project Exhibition Space is home to a diverse array of socially motivated and engaged exhibitions; the Residency Program invites mid-career to established artists to create a body of work and/or exhibition that deals with a pertinent social issue of their choice. TGP Exhibition Space is run as a subsidiary project of Project For Empty Space, a 501c3 tax exempt organization.

Artist in Residence: Nina Chanel Abney, November 11

Young American artist Nina Chanel Abney's brightly colored canvases reassert the potential of figure painting in contemporary art. Abney's figures often have a cartoon-like appearance and frequently seem to be frozen in various stages of bodily-transformations. She tackles complex issues including race and gender through a combination of autobiography, pop reference and storytelling.
